The club’s statutes record 30 July 1962 as the official founding date. Minutes from that day show the members unanimously agreeing to establish the Curaçao Yacht Club, approve its draft statutes, and appoint its first board.

The founding minutes name P. C. Gorsira as chairman, O. Perret Gentil as vice-chairman, A. E. Dangermond as secretary, and C. C. Boom as treasurer, supported by the club’s first commissioners. Their signatures remain preserved in the archive.

An April 1963 letter from architect Ben Smit gave the club the green light to build a pavilion and yacht harbor at Spanish Water. Early plans show the club taking shape alongside the island’s first weekend houses and waterfront lots.
